A beautiful TAXCO sterling silver painted porcelain locket brooch pendant for a Victorian Revival collection. Features a scenic painted porcelain cameo of a colonial couple in an orchid. The cameo is bezel set on a lid and reveals a hidden inner compartment with space for a small photo or other memento. with ornate silver work around the sides of the setting. The sides of the robust silver setting is decorated openwork decoration and has considerable depth, however the locket compartment itself is quite shallow.
The piece can be worn as a traditional brooch pin or as a pendant on a necklace. The back of the setting is stamped 'JB Hecho En Mexico 925", but the exact designer is unidentified. The outside of the silver setting bears notable tarnishing and discoloration, but the inner locket compartment remains pristine. There is some notable tarnishing and discoloration to portions on the silver ( most notably on the back), but overall the piece remains in functional vintage condition.
