one of a kind

An incredibly rare factory original Herman Miller Eames DRK-2 Wire Side Chair, aka "Bikini Chair", with an "Eiffel" base. This particular piece is a third generation production run of the DKR-2 chair from the late 1960s as indicated firstly by the plastic floor glide clip feet/strut ends and secondly by the original black finish over steel wire, age of the tag and age of the leather "bikini" cover. This chair is as original from Herman Miller and is in unrestored condition. Of particular note on this piece is the intact nature of the "bikini" leather pads, chair feet, and even the original factory tag! This is a unique, true MCM chair and a discerning addition to any collection or home.

This chair is in great shape overall. The leather is in fantastic shape, has no tears or holes and is ready to sit on. Of note is that the thread closure connecting the two pieces of the "bikini" seat pads has come undone over time and is missing entirely. Also, the "Eiffel" base is slightly misaligned and will need a minor adjustment to reset the chair to a perfectly level position on any flat surface. The chair shows its age with some minor surface rust around the connecting bolts and soldered wire joints but overall is still solid and sturdy. There are no loose or dented areas.
