Vintage Aksel Holmsen Gilt Sterling Silver Guilloche Enamel Viking Ship Boat Pin Brooch, Norway Sterling 925 Jewelry, 36mm
one of a kind
The yellow pin is in good vintage condition with minor wear and tarnishing.
The red pin is also in good vintage condition with minor wear and tarnishing, but the pin attachment has been altered since it's production, it is still functional but it does not feature the same modern safety latch structure of the yellow and blue pins, instead this latch is likely handmade. The blue pin has an intact modern safety latch, but features more intense wear and tarnishing.
We believe these brooches to date back to the early 1930s. Under the apprenticeship of David Andersen, Holmsen and his workshop, located in Oslo, were able to thrive during this era. Later Holmsen made a name for himself within the Scandinavian silver scene, and subsequently changed his brands' name by adding 'Norne.'
